Synthetic Resins
What are synthetic resins and what applications do they have?
Synthetic resins, also known as polymers, are substances obtained by polycondensation, polyaddition, and polymerisation processes. Depending on the specific type, the resin can take on a liquid or semi-liquid consistency, or appear as a soft solid.

Among synthetic resins, there are two main groups, differing in the way they react to the temperature supplied. The first group is a thermosetting resin, which requires an appropriate chemical reaction to cure. The second is a thermoplastic polymer, which softens when exposed to high temperatures and hardens when cooled (in the same way as metal, for example).
As far as the use of synthetic resins is concerned, they are primarily intended for the production of paints, laminates, and adhesives. In addition, they can also be used as effective repair and construction materials in the assembly and construction, shipbuilding, electronics and automotive industries.
Sales of synthetic resins
At C-L Sp. z o.o., we offer you relatively cheap resins, which at the same time are characterized by excellent quality and high strength parameters. A wide range is available, including products such as:
• putty adhesives,
• laminates,
• self-extinguishing and flame-retardant resins,
• polymers for castings,
• epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester and tool resins.
Our advantages as a supplier include, in particular, an extensive distribution network in the country and Europe, an extremely diverse range of products, constant availability of specific products, as well as the possibility for customers to obtain fully professional advice.
Types of synthetic resins from C-L Ltd.
Of the most popular resin types in our range, the following are worth noting in particular: polyester, vinylester, epoxy and tool resins. Each of them is characterized by different physical properties, which is associated with its purpose for different purposes.
Polyester resin
Resins of this type are by far the most commonly used. The reason for their popularity is primarily their low price. As far as the composition is concerned, they are usually in the form of two-component polyester unsaturated laminates, in which cross-linking occurs at room temperature. They are less resistant to damage and high temperatures than, for example, their epoxy counterparts, so it is recommended to use them only for light-duty tasks.
Epoxy resin
Its structure is based on polyphenols and can appear – depending on the type of resin and the density of its molecules – as a soft solid or a viscous liquid. Epoxy resins are used in almost every type of material and in a wide variety of projects. They are characterised by excellent adhesion, high resistance to chemicals, and high load-bearing capacity and mechanical damage.
Vinyl ester resin
Polymers combine the properties of polyester and epoxy resins. Their key advantages include, first and foremost, the simplicity of processing and a high chemical resistance factor within a wide variety of environments. Vinyl ester resins are also less susceptible to the hydrolysis process than the previously discussed counterparts, due to the relatively low number of ester groups.
Tool resin
Widely used to create tools with innovative designs. Tool resins are characterised by their light weight, low price, reinforced abrasion protection, and high resistance to working loads and chemical exposure.
How to make the right choice of resin?
In order to answer the question of which type of resin to choose, it is useful to clearly define the range of needs. Are you looking for a product for holes or cracks in yachts, or are you looking for products designed to bond, reinforce or laminate specific structures? Or is your desired resin to create aesthetically pleasing and durable floors? In this case, it would also be advisable to ascertain before purchasing how to prepare the substrate of a particular type and how long epoxy, polyester, or vinylester resin takes to harden.
In addition, it is important to bear in mind that the quality and individual parameters of polymers are also influenced by the ingredients added during the first stages of production. When choosing a particular resin, it is therefore important not only to look at the type of resin, but also to check the manufacturer’s declared characteristics of the product and its recommended range of possible applications.
If you have any doubts, feel free to contact our sales staff, who will suggest the right type of resin based on the specifics of your project.
We are cordially inviting you to cooperation with us.
